Areas of expertise and how I work
My three areas of experitise are metabolic health, achieving a healthy weight and the prevention control and mangement of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. Our work will always begin by getting clear about what you want to achieve and obtaining a clear understanding of the root causes of your issues. Working in the dark is difficult and takes more time so I like to see some blood test results which will give us a clear idea of your metabolic and general health. You might already have some test results from your doctor or I can help you get some done. Our metabolic health plays a vital role in determining our overall well-being, including our risk of chronic diseases and how we age. It’s also closely connected to achieving a healthy weight and the prevention, control and even reversal of type 2 diabetes. Understanding where you are in the spectrum of metabolic health provides us with powerful information about which dietary and lifestyle solutions will likely suit you. Getting a decent idea of your body composition and the amount of muscle you have is also a powerful tool in determining the kind of diet that will suit you.
I don't believe in the dogma of a particular diet - whether it is low carb or low fat, vegan or carnivore: I believe in looking at what your blood tests reveal about what kind of diet will suit you. My goal is to determine the best eating pattern for you that fits in with your lifestyle and beliefs. Apart from nutrition, we will address all areas of your life that impact your health such as exercise, sleep, stress, food sensitivities, digestion and emotional wellbeing.
